The Palestinian Network of Non-Governmental Organizations stated that the right to food is a fundamental right and vital for an honorable life. They said economic conditions and poverty cause food security to fall down to unprecedented levels.

The report, issued by the organization, noted that two-thirds of the families in Gaza, namely about one 1,300 thousand people, suffered from excessive or moderate food security. This is because of the continuous blockade and the invaders constantly attacking people or their lands.

According to the report, a significant portion of the people in Gaza are economically deprived of the possibility of purchasing necessary foodstuffs. This leads to the elimination of food safety.

According to the report, half of the people in the region live below the poverty line. The unemployment rate has reached an average of 52 percent. This rate is up to 70 percent of young people. Because of the low amount of income, people have to reduce the number of daily meals.
