Ukrainian airliner crash outside Tehran: 180 dead
A Boeing 737 jet has crashed in Iran shortly after takeoff Wednesday morning, killing all passengers and crew, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent’s Relief and Rescue Organization said on state television.
Iranian aircraft heading to Kiev early Tuesday has crashed shortly after takeoff from the Imam Khomeini International Airport at the Iranian capital of Tehran.
According to the local officials, the plane that crashed was a Ukrainian Boeing 737-800, carrying 167 passengers and 9 crewmembers.
The Iranian Red Crescent has said it is unlikely to find survivors amid the wreckage at the accident site.
It was confirmed later that all the people on board had been killed.
The incident took place just a few hours after Iran carried out a series of ballistic missile attacks against American troops in Iraqi.
