US continues arming PKK/YPG
The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) said they continue to provide weapons, vehicles and ammunition support to the PKK/YPG.
"We continue to provide very tailored arms and vehicles to the SDF," said Chris Maier, Director of the Pentagon Working Group on Combating Radical Groups.
Maier added that they are very transparent about what those supplies are, "we provide monthly to Turkey a report of what those -- those arms and vehicles are."
The announcement of Pentagon came just after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that "if there is no result in two weeks, we will activate our own action plans" while the safe zone talks are underway.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Trump are expected to meet as part of the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held in New York next week, and to discuss the point reached in the safe zone talks.
Maier also referred to a "security mechanism" for the safe zone, saying that "PKK/YPG militants have withdrawn, replaced by Arab fighters" in the area. However, he said the PKK/YPG still has militants in the area.
