Visually impaired teenager memorizes Qur'an

Mehmet Nayır who is visually impaired in Cizre, district of Şırnak, east of Turkiye, is memorizing al Qur'an.

Mehmet Nayır, 18, a student of the Al Cazari Boarding Men's Qur'an course, is studying on memorizing Al Qur'an despite 90% visually impaired.

Nayır memorizes Surahs by uploading the Quran to Mp3 player, also gets help from his friends and instructors. He, so far memorized 18 parts [each part=20 pages] of the Qur'an and his biggest ambition is to memorize the whole Qur'an in a beautiful way.

Mehmet Nayır also won the award to go to the Umrah, which organized by Presidency of Religious Affairs throughout Turkiye, in 81 provinces, for disabled people.

Speaking to ILKHA correspondent on the subject, Harun Buruk, Manager of Al Cazari Boarding Men's Qur'an Course, appreciated the success of Mehmet Nayır despite his 90 percent of visually impaired.

Buruk emphasized that the obstacle is not in the body, but in the heart.

"We have 80 students here. Our students are memorizing the Qur'an. They [students] study on Arabic after they finish memorizing Qur'an," he said.

"Our student Muhammed Nayır is a brother who has 90% visual impairment. This student is really hard working and honest, which is a gift given to him by Allah. His love for the Qur'an has led him to memorize the Qur'an."

Expressing the happiness for memorizing the Qur'an, Mehmet Nayır advised those who could fully see, to read and understand the Qur'an that he described as a heritage from the Prophet.
