President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan kicked off AK Party’s campaign for the March 31, 2019 elections with a rally in Sivas. The President made a speech at the rally.

Underlining that it is not for no reason that they chose to hold the first campaign rally in Sivas, President Erdoğan described the city, the venue of the Sivas Congress a century ago, as a headquarter which stood against captivity and set independence as the target during the Turkish War of Independence.

The Turkish people showed the entire world their determination to defend their independence and future by openly rejecting any regime of mandate or protectorate a century ago in Sivas, said, President Erdoğan.

"Today, while kicking off the campaign for the local elections, we, a century later, reiterate the same principles, decisions, and ideals," he said.

"While setting off from Sivas, we are saying that the homeland within the national borders is a whole," added President Erdoğan while underscored that their homeland, flag, state, nation, and future are their dignity and honor.

"Whoever encroaches on our homeland, flag or future, we never let them go unpunished," underlined President Erdoğan, and added: "We will duly respond to those scheming against Turkiye, whether they be from the inside or the outside, even at the cost of our own lives. We will foil every trap set against Turkiye’s interests and achievements and against our goal to make Turkiye great."
