"Will the US take the names and punish them?"
"Will the US take the names and punish them? All will vote with their conscience," said Turkiye's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu related to the US' insinuation threat to the UN state members, before the meeting on Jerusalem.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki in Istanbul, before flying to New York together, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Thursday the UN General Assembly will vote on a Jerusalem proposal countering the U.S. decision.
"What will you do by recording these names? Will you let those countries be invaded, or will you punish them? Everyone in the UN will vote with the conscience," said Çavuşoğlu, referring to US threats to member states.
"We see that the US, which is left alone, resorted to the threat method, saying, 'We will follow what they vote for, we will report to the other, we will take names. 'What will you do by recording these names? Will you let those countries be invaded, or will you punish them? What are you going to do? The time has changed. No honorable state will submit to this repression, everyone will decide in the direction of the conscience of the nation, and the United States should abandon these methods," Çavuşoğlu said in the statement.
US Representative to the UN Nikki Haley made a statement threatening the countries those going to vote for Jerusalem.
The UN General Assembly will meet urgently on Thursday to discuss the issue.
