Al-Aqsa mosque sterilized after every prayer over fears of coronavirus
While several coronavirus cases were confirmed in occupied Palestine, Jerusalem Islamic Waqf announced on Friday that Al-Aqsa Mosque was sterilized after every prayer.
The Waqf has also released some instructions for those coming to the prayers, including to wash their hands with soap and to only sneeze into a tissue or into their elbow, and to seek immediate medical aid if they feel ill during the service.
The coronavirus reached Palestine following a visit by a South Korean delegation in the period between February 8 and 15, which included a tour in the major Palestinian cities of Jerusalem, Nablus, Jericho, Hebron, and Bethlehem.
Meanwhile, the Christian churches have decided to close the Church of Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, and the sports council the cancelling of the annual Bethlehem marathon that was planned for later this month.
