Consumer price index rises by 11.89% annually in Turkey
Consumer price index (CPI) has increased by 11.89% annually and 2.13% monthly, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Monday.
A rise in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 2.13%, on December of the previous year by 10.64%, on same month of the previous year by 11.89% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 11.74% in October 2020, according to the statement.
The lowest annual increase was 0.67% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco
Clothing and footwear with 2.22%, communication with 5.48% and education with 7.36% were the other main groups where low annual increases realized. On the other hand, miscellaneous goods and services with 27.40%, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 16.51% and health with 15.60% were the main groups where high annual increases realized.
The highest monthly decrease was 0.09% in recreation and culture
In October 2020, the other main group that indicated a decrease was alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 0.01%. On the other hand, clothing and footwear with 6.81%, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 3.03% and furnishings and household equipment with 2.45% were the main groups where high monthly increases realized.
In October 2020 within average prices of 418 items in the index, the average prices of 52 items decreased and the average prices of 42 items remained unchanged while the average prices of 324 items increased.
The indicator for CPI having specified coverage (B) increased by 12.00% annually and 1.97% monthly
A rise in CPI excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 1.97%, on December of the previous year by 10.89%, on same month of the previous year by 12.00% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 11.18% in October 2020.
