Coronavirus in Iran: 121 people die in the past 24 hours
121 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Iran, bringing the total number of the deaths to 3,993, said Iran's Health Ministry Public Relations Office Kianoush Jahanpour on Wednesday.
With new 1997 confirmed case in the last 24 hours, the number of people who tested positive for coronavirus has risen to 64,586 in the country.
“29,812 patients suffering from the novel coronavirus have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far,” Jahanpour said.
“3,956 patients are in critical condition,” he added.
Iran reported its first confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections on 19 February 2020 in Qom.
As of 8 April 2020, Iran has the fifth-highest number of COVID-19 deaths after Italy, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom, and the seventh-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world.
The coronavirus outbreak, which was first identified in Wuhan, China, has until now infected 1,446,983 people, killing more than 83,090 worldwide.
