Coronavirus in Iran: 133 people die in the past 24 hours
133 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Iran, bringing the total number of the deaths to 3,872, said Iran's Health Ministry Public Relations Office Kianoush Jahanpour on Tuesday.
With new 2,089 confirmed case in the last 24 hours, the number of people who tested positive for coronavirus has risen to 62,589 in the country.
“27,039 patients suffering from the novel coronavirus have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far,” Jahanpour said.
“3,987 patients are in critical condition,” he added.
Iran reported its first confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections on 19 February 2020 in Qom.
As of 29 March 2020, Iran has the fourth-highest number of COVID-19 deaths after Italy, China, and Spain, and the sixth-highest number of SARS-CoV-2 cases in the world.
The coronavirus outbreak, which was first identified in Wuhan, China, has until now infected 1,358,497 people, killing more than 75,895 worldwide.
