After 13,053 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 854,361 in the country.

There are at least 5,796 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 603,445 patients have been discharged from hospital after being cured.

So far, more than 5,788,016 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,388,762 with 58,614,985 cases and more than 40,578,848 recoveries.
