HAMAS calls on Biden to backtrack on the so-called “deal of the century”
Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh has released a statement on the US presidential election.
Reminded that over the past decades, the Palestinian people have suffered from bias shown by previous US administrations in favor of the zionist occupation regime, Haniyeh emphasized that US President Donald Trump and his administration had been the most hardlines in supporting the zionist occupation regime at the expense of Palestinian national rights.
Haniyeh continued his remarks as follows: “We call on the newly-elected president Joe Biden to historically rectify the course of unfair US policy towards our people, which has made the United States a partner in the injustice and aggression inflected on our people, harmed stability in the region and the world, and prevented the US from being a central party in resolving conflicts.”
“Therefore, we urge the elected administration to backtrack on the so-called “deal of the century”, reverse the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Israeli occupation and rescind moving the US embassy to the holy city, which was carried out in clear violation of all international stances and resolutions; we also call for an end to all decisions aimed at liquidating the Palestinian refugee issue, particularly cutting the US aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees in a bid to dissolve the UN body.”
Haniyeh also called on the US administration to respect the will of the Palestinian people and their democratic options and struggle for freedom and stop piling pressure on Arab states to coerce them into normalizing relations with the zionist occupation regime.
Haniyeh underlined that the Palestinian people would continue their fight with all legitimate means to end the occupation and achieve independence and restore the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
“We will continue endorsing the course of national unity and intra-Palestinian rapprochement to face off all challenges intended to liquidate the Palestinian cause and work on achieving our people’s goals and national aspirations,” he concluded.
