House sales in Turkey decreases by 44.6% in May 2020
In Turkey, house sales decreased by 44.6% in May 2020 compared to the same month of the previous year and hence, became 50 thousand 936, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, for the house sales of May 2020, İstanbul had the highest share of house sales with 15.0% and 7 thousand 640 sold house. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 4 thousand 939 house sales and İzmir 3 thousand 96 house sales with the share of 9.7% and 6.1% respectively. The least house sold provinces were Ardahan with 4 house sales, Hakkari with 15 house sales and Tunceli with 21 house sales.
In May 2020, 18 thousand 483 ownership of the houses changed by mortgage sales
The mortgaged house sales throughout Turkey became 18 thousand 483 by increasing 23.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. House sales with mortgage had a 36.3% share of all house sales in Turkey. İstanbul has the highest mortgage house sales in Turkey with 2 thousand 570 sales and with the share of 13.9%. The least other house sales were realized in Ardahan with 2 house sales.
Ownership of 32 thousand 453 houses changed by other sales
Other house sales in Turkey became 32 thousand 453 by decreasing 57.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the other sales, İstanbul was the first province with 5 thousand 70 sales and 15.6% share. Other house sales had 66.4% share of all house sales in İstanbul. Ankara was the second province with 2 thousand 761 sales. Ankara was followed by İzmir with a thousand 842 sales. The least other house sales were realized in Ardahan with 2 house sales.
In house sales, 16 thousand 860 of houses were sold for the first time
First house sales in Turkey became 16 thousand 860 by decreasing 54.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. First house sales had 33.1% share of all house sales in Turkey. The most first house sales were in İstanbul with 2 thousand 546 sales. İstanbul was the first province in Turkey ranking that had most first house sales share with 15.1%. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with a thousand 211 house sales and İzmir with 996 house sales.
Ownership of 34 thousand 76 houses changed by second hand sales
Second hand house sales in Turkey became 34 thousand 76 by decreasing 37.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the second hand sales, İstanbul was the first province with 5 thousand 94 sales and 14.9% share. Share of the second hand sales were 66.7% in İstanbul in total house sales. Ankara was the second province with 3 thousand 728 sales and Ankara was followed by İzmir with 2 thousand 100 sales.
Houses sales decreased by 2.2% in January-May period
In the January-May period, 434 thousand 757 houses were sold and decreased by 2.2% compared to the same period of the previous year. In the January-May period, sales of mortgaged houses were 164 thousand 870 and increased by 118.2%, and in other types of sales, it was 269 thousand 887 and decreased by 26.8%. Houses sold for the first time in this period was 139 thousand 140 decreased by 23.9%. Second-hand house sales were 295 thousand 617 and also increased by 13.0%.
In May 2020, 860 houses were sold to foreigners
In house sales to foreigners became 860 by decreasing 78.1% compared to the same month of the previous year. İstanbul was the first province with 423 sales in May 2020. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 130 house sales, Ankara with 72 house sales, İzmir with 38 house sales and Mersin with 29 house sales.
In January-May period, house sales to foreigners became 12 thousand 598 by decreasing 27.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Most house sales were made to Iran citizens according to country nationalities
In May, Iran citizens bought 209 houses from Turkey. The followers of Iran were Iraq with 143 house sales, Afghanistan with 48 house sales, China with 46 house sales and Azerbaijan with 42 house sales.
