Iran reports 232 new deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours
After 9,384 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 1,092,407 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Friday.
232 more people have died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 51,727.
There are at least 5,768 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 787,853 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 6,568,472 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,591,015 with 70,833,807 cases and more than 49,258,445 recoveries.
