Iran reports 453 new deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours
After 12,460 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 866,821 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Monday.
453 more people have died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 45,255.
There are at least 5,812 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 610,406 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 5,828,307 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,395,587 with 59,096,554 cases and more than 40,868,280 recoveries.
