Iran’s death toll from coronavirus rises to 11,408
Iran has reported 148 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 11,408, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Saturday.
After 2,449 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 237,878 in the country.
There are at least 3,136 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 198,949 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 1,769,520 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
She described the condition in the provinces of Kordestan, Khuzestan, East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Kermanshah, Bushehr, Khorasan Razavi, Ilam and Hormozgan as a red status.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 529,604 with 11,220,009 cases and more than 6,363,717 recoveries.
