More than 3,000 people die from coronavirus in the USA
The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in the USA has risen to 3,170, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Over the past 24 hours, 661 people have died from the virus, bringing the number of deaths to 3,170 in the country.
21,595 people have tested positive for coronavirus so the total number of confirmed cases have 164,610.
The U.S. has the most confirmed active cases in the world and ranks fourth in the number of total deaths from the virus.
“New York State has more than 1,218 coronavirus-related deaths,” said Gov. Andrew Cuomo, adding that 930 police officers have tested positive for the virus so far.
