Serbia holds parliamentary elections amid coronavirus pandemic
People started casting votes at 7:00 o’clock on Sunday in the election, which was initially planned in April but postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
About 6.6 million Serbians are eligible to cast ballots for the 250-member parliament and local authorities in the country.
In the period before the elections, inter-party European Parliament-mediated dialogue wаs held and certain changes in the election legislation have been made.
Numerous parliamentary and non-parliamentary political subjects are boycotting the elections, including the major opposition coalition the Alliance for Serbia, claiming that there are no conditions for free and fair elections.
President Aleksandar Vucic's party is expected to win an absolute majority, facing little challenge from the divided opposition.
