The number of deaths rises to 5,391 in Iran
Iran has reported 94 new deaths from coronavirus pandemic, taking the country’s death toll to 5,391, according to the head of Health Ministry Public Relations Office, Kianoush Jahanpour.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 85,996, an increase of 1,194 cases in the past 24 hours.
While some 3,311 patients are in critical condition, 63,113 patients suffering from the novel coronavirus have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals so far,” Jahanpour said.
377,396 tests for coronavirus have until now been conducted in the country.
Iran reported its first confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections on 19 February 2020 in Qom.
Iran has the seventh-highest number of COVID-19 deaths after the United States, Italy, Spain, France, the United Kingdom and Belgium, and the eighth-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world.
The coronavirus pandemic, which was first identified in Wuhan, China, and was declared a pandemic by WHO on March 11, has until now infected 2,575,199 people, killing at least 178,658 across the world.
