Turkey’s daily death toll from coronavirus drops to 23
23 people have died from coronavirus pandemic in the last 24 hours in Turkey, rising the country’s death toll from the virus to 4,222, announced Fahrettin Koca, Turkish Health Minister, on his Twitter account on Wednesday.
Turkey has so far reported 152,587 confirmed coronavirus cases, an increase of 972 cases in the past 24 hours.
113,987 patients suffering from coronavirus have fully recovered from the infection and been discharged from hospital.
While 877 patients are being treated in intensive care unit, there are some 445 patients who are mechanically ventilated.
A total of 1,696,355 tests for coronavirus have so far been conducted in the country.
The rapid increase of the confirmed cases in Turkey has not overburdened the public healthcare system, and the preliminary case-fatality rate remained lower compared to many European countries. Discussions mainly attributed these to the country's relatively young population and high number of available intensive care units.
