US: More than a half million people tests positive for coronavirus

The U.S. records the most COVID-19 deaths in a single day, with more than 2,000 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The number of deaths from the virus have reached 18,777 in the U.S., an increase of 2,091, in the past 24 hours.

35,316 new cases were confirmed with coronavirus, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 505,781 in the country.

A total of 29,191 people suffering from the disease have been discharged from hospital after being cured.

New York, the epicenter of the pandemic in the US, has the highest number of fatalities, with more than 7,000 deaths, followed by New Jersey with 1932, Michigan with 1276 deaths.

New York has also the highest number of confirmed cases with 174,489 cases.

 The U.S. has the highest number of confirmed cases, followed by Spain, Italy and Germany.

The coronavirus pandemic, which was first identified in Wuhan, China, has until now infected 1,725,815 people, killing more than 104,901 worldwide.
